Lanterns on the Lagoon
Lanterns on the Lagoon is a festival celebrating reflection, sustainable art and sculpture. Set in a beautifully serene park nestled next to the banks of the Tumut River, this free event hosts a range of family friendly activities from midday into the evening. Visitors are welcomed with music, fine food and entertainment as they meander throughout the park to marvel at sculptures crafted from recycled, reclaimed and sustainable materials. At dusk, hand-decorated lanterns are gently released onto the lagoon as the park and sculptures are transformed by elegant lighting. Coinciding with the Spring Equinox each year, this festival provides a platform for the community to enjoy a cultural experience in a relaxed environment.
Sculptures in the Park 2017 is open to all artists - established, emerging, novice, students and schools. Construction needs to be from salvaged, recycled or natural materials. These recycled sculpture/artworks will be displayed throughout the park during the day and into the night. Ideally, large, waterproof and of sturdy construction. Incorporating solar powered lighting is encouraged.
Artworks can be sold with a 20% commission.
